The Department of English Linguistics and Literature (DELL) houses experienced and local/foreign qualified faculty competent in a wide range of English linguistic and literary fields. The Department offers a highly competitive skill-based undergraduate program in English. Through courses, students are prepared to undertake the rigors involved in teaching and step up to the demands and challenges of the world. The Department is keen on developing the students’ critical and analytical abilities through education and various curricular and extra-curricular activities. BS English covers a variety of communication, interpersonal, academic, and research skills, enabling the students to fare well in the professional job market and future higher studies.

The Department has introduced culturally responsive and sustainable pedagogy while simultaneously acknowledging multilingualism/multiculturalism as a scaffold and a conduit for more enhanced learning. This approach promotes social cohesion, emphasizing the dynamic use of students’ linguistic repertoire to improve and make learning goals more attainable. The DELL faculty members are trained to relate ontological, epistemological, and methodological aspects of the discipline with contextual examples. This helps students consolidate their learning and become independent learners regarding how they can exercise their craft to solve everyday problems. Thus, each course moves gradually from theory to practice.
