Introduction:

Riphah Institute of Language & Literature (RILL) was established in 2015 under the faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities (FSS&H) at Riphah International University, Lahore Campus. The Institute is currently offering BS English (Language & Literature), MPhil English (Literature), and MPhil English (Linguistics). There are 8 PhD and 18 MPhil faculty members. RILL can take pride in having local and foreign faculty members, who are highly professional and devoted. Along with building a sturdy foundation of theoretical knowledge, RILL provides its students opportunities to take part in many practical activities in form of societies, clubs, and workshops, etc.

The institute was established in 2015, and since then it has strived to create a tradition of active teaching and learning. It is one of the leading institutes of the university where students are nurtured academically, intellectually and morally. It envisions in developing a group of creative yet critical thinkers in the field of academia and research. The department also aims to equip students with a sense of positive outlook towards the world around them.

The institute offers diverse student-centered learning opportunities in literary and language studies at graduate and postgraduate levels. Our courses are research driven to help students specialize in the subjects of Literature, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. The undergraduate programs are unique and challenging that could inculcate critical insight of English Literature into students. Moreover, it promotes a deep scientific study of English Language in the subjects of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.

Furthermore, the institute offers the promotion of local and Islamic perspective of knowledge understanding and formation. Evaluating the Eurocentric theories, the institute attempts to dislocate the concepts and knowledge making and tries to re-establish them according to the indigenous needs.
