He graduated from UET Peshawar in 1981 and later did his MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Specialized in Production Engineering) from the UET Lahore in 1995. Dr Nawar Khan completed his PhD in Engineering Management under split PhD program of MoST from the UET Lahore and De Montfort University, Leicestershire UK in August 1999. His field of specialization is Total Quality Management (TQM), particularly the ‘TQM Awards’. Also, he got his MBA degree, specializing in HRM, in January 2005 from Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad.

Prof. Dr Nawar Khan is a professional Mechanical Engineer with more than 37 years of working experience at numerous appointments and institutions. He has served for more than 22 years at NUST College of E&ME on Academics, Research and Management assignments. He is author of a reviewed textbook on TQM and published 133 research papers. He has won HEC NRPU project of approximately RS. 9.6 million.

He is ISO Management System Standards Certification Lead Assessor, PEC convener and Technical Expert, HEC Approved Supervisor for Engineering and Technology

During professional experience, he taught courses at BE, MS and PhD level at different institutions of NUST and the country. For the last 5 years, he is serving as professor in the Riphah School of Leadership (RSL), Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) at Riphah International University Islamabad.

He has supervised more than 190 MS and 10 PhD scholars. He has carried out accreditation / re-accreditation as convener / technical expert of a number of public and private sector engineering universities of the country and written its reports.

He is a Certified Quality Assurance Lead Auditor for different ISO management system standards and conducted more than 190 audits as technical expert and auditor of a number of public and private sector organizations.

He is author of a reviewed textbook on TQM published by NUST which was declared the best book of the year 2010 on Quality by PIQC in Pakistan.

He has published 133 research papers at national and international level in both reputed journals and conferences.

Dr Nawar Khan was the Principal Investigator of Pakistan National Quality Award (PNQA) project for Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Presently, he is working on another HEC project on ISO management system standards certification performance analysis. He is approved PhD supervisor for Engineering and Technology and a resource person for PNQA, ISO Management System Standards, and TQM for MOST and Engineering Management programs for HEC.

He is a member of Institute of Engineers, Pakistan and lifetime member of Pakistan Engineering Council
