Pictorial Silhouette of Postwar Literature: The Somber Ethos of War and RAS Model (Literary Project of BS-8)
This literary project was assigned to BS-8 and it was given the title of the pictorial silhouette (a dark shape seen against a light surface) to decoct the themes of hope from hopelessness. Students were asked to focus on the validity of existentialists’ and absurdists’ theoretical ideas in the milieu of postwar world and its manifestation in literature. They were asked to depict alienated entities like ambivalent nationals, aspiring immigrants, invading armies, or an unhiemlich sense of strangeness and its delineation in different genres of literature produced after World War II. The second and significant part of the project was to illustrate a strong counter narrative as a contention of contemporary modern western thought. Students were also asked to focus on RAS model to find the silver lining in the somber ethos of postwar world.
