Program Summary

Speech-language pathology/therapy (SLP/T) is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on human communication, swallowing and feeding function, and related disabilities. Speech-language pathologists/therapists, assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, swallowing, fluency, and aural rehabilitation.

 Speech-language pathology/therapy is the field of study which integrates the knowledge related to restoring the communicational functional capacity of a person to perform the activities of everyday life and the interaction of that person with the surrounding environment that either disables or enables the individual to participate fully in society.

This program will provide students with a strong foundation in research methodology, concentrated educational experience tailored toward a student’s specific research questions along with working knowledge of the importance of a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to the scientific process and thus rehabilitate, provide efficient service delivery and enhance the quality of life of the Pakistani population. This knowledge is then translated into interventions aimed at improving human performance and quality of life. This program offers students a rigorous science-based educational foundation for Speech-language pathology/therapy-related careers upon graduation as well as a clear and distinctive pathway for the future in order to prepare clinicians and academic scientists.

Aims and objectives:

 The objective of a master’s in Speech-language pathology/therapy is to discover and disseminate rehabilitation knowledge and improve the quality of life, participation, health, performance, and well-being of people in the community and on national and international platforms.  Our aim further encompasses the cultivation of premier leaders and researchers in rehabilitation academia, industry, and clinical environments to transform the science and practice of rehabilitation of individuals facing speech-language and swallowing issues.

Duration:

  •  Two years full-time with 4-semesters.

Eligibility for Admission:

  • Minimum 16 years of education; BS/MSc Behavioral & Social Sciences, Medical & Allied Health Sciences, 4 years Bachelor/MA Social sciences (Special education, Education, Sociology, Linguistics) or equivalent qualification from any HEC recognized university minimum unadjusted 50% marks or CGPA of 2.00 on the 4.00 scale
  • Admission Test or any other equivalent test duly recognized by the HEC or University as per HEC policy guidelines followed by interview
