In addition to high degree of professional competitiveness, we are determined to teach morality, ethics, Islamic values and rational spirit in our students. With a faculty of highly qualified professional teachers and dedicated students, the department is set to play its crucial role in the field of Islamic thought, culture and civilization for the social development and economic growth of Pakistan. As a Chancellor, I congratulate the department of Islamic Studies for offering Islamic Studies programs and achieving excellence in academic endeavors and research innovation.
Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan
Chancellor Riphah International University
Most of the universities in Pakistan have departments of Islamic Studies in which the traditional approach of providing guidance in basic subjects of Islamic Studies is provided. Very few programs prepare the mind of the student to be critical and relate Islamic subjects with society. I am glad to see that the department of Islamic Studies has developed a scheme of studies where an interdisciplinary approach is adopted, and Islamic Studies is approached not from purely a theoretical perspective. I hope research culture will be introduced at the undergraduate level in all programs in order to produce learners and researchers with an innovative (Ijtihadi) approach. Islamic culture and civilization and Islamic thought need a non-apologetic evidence-based approach relying on two non-variable sources viz the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Occidentalism is as much needed as orientalism. I hope the curriculum, as well as research areas, will also focus on Occidentalism. The Riphah stands for the inculcation of Islamic ethical values.
I hope this department will be instrumental in the realization of ethical conduct and behavior not only in students of the department but also in the whole university.

Pakistan is an ideological country where Muslims can pass their lives according to the principles of Islam. The important requirement towards achieving this objective is the correct understanding of Islamic teachings in the light of the Quran and the Sunnah. Therefore, the Islamic Studies discipline is gaining importance over time in the country. In the era of negative propaganda and misrepresentation about Islam, it is important to correctly understand and present the true picture of Islam to the world and provide workable solutions to humanity’s problems in different areas of life.
The Department of Islamic Studies offers MPhil and BS programs and will offer PhD Islamic Studies in the future. It is equipped with qualified and committed faculty members, sound academic resources both physical and electronic, and an environment conducive to learning the teachings of Islam. I hope that our educational programs in the field of Islamic Studies will provide extensive theoretical knowledge and a practical problem-solving approach
