Introduction
The interest and demand for qualified professionals in project management is accelerating. There is a growing and evident global increase in the need for well-educated and proficient individuals who are capable of meeting the contemporary and emerging challenges in the field. Knowledge is needed to develop competence, and that knowledge needs to be based on meaningful and rigorous research. The 48 credit hour Ph.D. program in Project Management seeks to fulfil the rapidly growing need for qualified educators and researchers in project management and is inspired by the growing calls for greater theoretical development in the field.
The Ph.D. in Project Management program is designed to advance the professional development of project management and engineering management graduates and by inculcating an in-depth understanding of contemporary theoretical and practical challenges in project management and equipping them with broad research skills which would enable them to make a valuable contribution to the project management field. The objective of the program is to produce scholars who can generate original and indigenous ideas to not only enrich the broader field of research but to address current governance and management challenges in project management. It aims to provide doctoral students with the skills necessary for successful careers in academics, research, teaching, training, and consulting. The program also aims to provide students with the relevant expertise to assume strategic leadership roles in projects and project-based organizations by applying theoretical insights in practice.
Eligibility Criteria:
MS Project Management/MS Engineering Management/Equivalent (18 Years of education) from a recognized institution with minimum 3.00/4.00 CGPA in semester system or 70% marks in annual system.
The candidate must have carried out and successfully defended at least 6 credit hours of research work with dissertation/thesis in MS/MPhil or its equivalent degree. Candidates with non-research MS/MPhil degree will be required to qualify a research work equivalent to 3 credit hours. The credit hours will not be counted towards calculation of GPA/CGPA.
Duration:
The programme is designed to be delivered over a minimum period of 36 months — i.e., 03 academic years spread over six semesters. The maximum time period for the program is 06 years. However, BASR may allow extension in 06 months segments up to two years on recommendations of Supervisor, HOD, and Dean.
Credit Hours:
A minimum of 48 credit hours are required to complete PhD Project Management with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on the 4.00 scale.
Selection Criteria:
Academic Background and Professional Experience: 30%
Test, Statement of Purpose, and Interview: 70%
The candidate must have passed the department admission test in the subject or equivalent test conducted by an authorized/recognized body of the HEC for admission in the program.
Mode of Delivery and Class Timings:
Students will be enrolled full time and courses will be run in the evenings and weekends.
