9th International Water Conference on Emerging Technologies for Water Security

The Riphah Institute of Public Policy (RIPP), in collaboration with the COMSTECH Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), successfully hosted the 9th International Water Conference on May 6–7, 2025. The event, held in Islamabad, was centered around the theme “Emerging Technologies for Water Security and Socio-Economic Development.”
The prestigious two-day conference brought together academics, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from across Pakistan and the region to foster inter-institutional and cross-sectoral dialogue on sustainable water management.
Prominent national institutions partnered in the event, including:
- Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR)
- WaterAid Pakistan
- University of Haripur
- COMSATS University
- University of Baltistan
- Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro
With a strong academic focus, the conference featured the presentation of 100 research papers, addressing critical issues related to water resources, climate change, and emerging technologies. The discussions highlighted innovative strategies for water conservation, sustainable usage, and climate resilience.
The conference reaffirmed the importance of collaborative research and policy development in addressing Pakistan’s and the region’s pressing water challenges, paving the way for a more secure and sustainable future.
