Faculty Development
Our Initiatives & Activities
Monthly Study Circles: Study circles are an essential part of ongoing professional development for faculty as mentors. Each department or faculty conducts a monthly study circle for its members and staff, promoting cognitive development, effective communication, and self-awareness. These sessions aim to foster intellectual dialogue, establish a culture of learning, critical thinking, and sound ideology, and strengthen the understanding of Islamic history and practices across various fields.
Mentor Training: The TRC offers a mentor development program designed to enhance faculty members' mentoring skills and competencies. This training aims to equip mentors with the necessary tools to support their own personal and professional growth while fostering a culture of mentorship within the university. The program introduces mentors to the Riphah Mentoring framework, helping them align their mentoring practices with the university’s mission and vision. It also focuses on Life Vision Engineering, guiding mentors to assist students in developing their personal visions and action plans, grounded in Islamic ideology and values. Through this training, mentors are prepared to support students in navigating their roles and responsibilities, creating a positive impact on both personal and academic growth.
Riphah Teaching Competencies Course: This course is designed for faculty members to understand the aims of education from both Islamic and Western perspectives, integrate Riphah University's mission, vision, and values into teaching, and incorporate Islamic knowledge into the curriculum. It covers topics such as the Islamic perspective of education, values in education, the RAS model, writing integrated teaching materials, and value-based education. The course is also available as a MOOC on the Tabriyah repository.
Digital Resource Development: TRC maintains a comprehensive digital repository to support mentors, faculty members, and students in their tarbiyah activities. The repository includes a variety of resources such as MOOCs, including two courses from the Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Ethics and Teaching Methodology: Islamic Thought and World Culture and Professional Ethics and Morality. Additionally, TRC has developed a MOOC for the Riphah Teaching Competencies course. The repository also features books, presentations for faculty study circles, and resources for SEL workshops. It houses video lectures and materials aimed at mentor development, as well as content related to the ethicalization of education, integration of knowledge, and value-based education. Furthermore, the repository provides updates and insights on ongoing tabiyah activities within the university.
