Program Description
MPhil in Molecular Biology is a 02-years programme,18 years of education spread over four semesters. The students must complete course work of minimum 24 credit hours in two semesters and there will be 06 credit hour research for thesis in 2nd year.
This core course has been devised to impart knowledge of molecular biology to M.Phil students. The contents range from basic principles of macromolecules to metabolism and molecular biology thereof. It also deals with advances in molecular techniques to screen and diagnose the genetic diseases. It will also be helpful to develop analytical skills. At the end of the course the learners will be able to embark upon advanced Molecular biology.
In this century fundamental investigations and clinical disorders are being explored by variety of new and modified techniques for example, study of various genes, regulation of gene expression, receptor studies etc.
Molecular biology is the subject that covers a range of interdisciplinary units in modern medical sciences. The programme of M. Phil Molecular biology in the discipline of basic medical sciences covers the application of modern approaches in DNA/RNA, proteomics/metabolomics, and molecular medicine. In this highly competitive environment, there is need to seek a reputable career in basic medical sciences. Training by involvement of skilled expertise in various subjects of Molecular biology is of immense importance for the medical sciences
Molecular biology in the Riphah Pakistan encompasses both core knowledge and practical laboratory practice. The award of the M. Phil will require evidence of satisfactory completion of training in the core aspects of Molecular biology Principles for an Assessment System for Postgraduate Medical Training.

Entry Requirements for MS/M.Phil. Programs
To be eligible for admission to the MS/M.Phil.-level programs, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Academic Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor's or master's degree (16 years of education) in a relevant discipline from a recognized university or Degree Awarding Institute (DAI).
- Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.4 in a semester system or at least 60% marks in an annual system.
Admission Test
- Pass the university/departmental admission test.
- Candidates expelled or rusticated from any university/DAI for misconduct, examination malpractice, or moral turpitude are ineligible for admission.
Application Submission
Submit a complete application in response to the university/department’s official advertisement, using the prescribed form and attaching all required documents.

Merit / Selection Criteria
Selection Criteria for MPhil Programs
The selection process for MPhil programs at IIMC evaluates candidates comprehensively, with a total score of 100 marks. To secure admission, candidates must achieve at least 50% of the total score. The distribution of marks is as follows:
1. Entry Test Marks (75 Marks)
Candidates must appear for the entry test, which contributes 75% to the total score.
2. Academic Evaluation (5 Marks)
Academic achievements are assessed based on the following criteria:
- Final Professional Marks (Division): 1 mark for achieving a division in the final professional exam.
- Distinction in Final Professional: 1 mark for securing a distinction in the final professional exam.
- Previous Teaching Experience: 1 mark for verified teaching experience.
- Article Published: 1 mark for publication in a recognized journal.
- Workshop Attended: 1 mark for participation in relevant workshops.
3. Interview (20 Marks)
- The interview evaluates candidates on:
- Turnout and Behavior: 1 mark.
- Communication Skills: 2 marks.
- Interview Performance: 17 marks.
4. Total Academic/Interview Marks (25 Marks)
The sum of Academic and Interview scores contributes 25% to the total score.
5. Final Score (100 Marks)
- The Entry Test Marks and Academic/Interview Marks are combined to determine the final score.
- A minimum of 50% (50 marks out of 100) is required for admission eligibility.
6. Application Process
- Applications must be submitted online.
- Upon submission, candidates will receive an application ID.
- Ensure all required documents (academic transcripts, certificates of teaching experience, published articles, and workshop certificates) are uploaded for verification.
