Program Description
The Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGO) is a two-year, semester-based postgraduate diploma offered by Riphah International University. It is designed for MBBS graduates seeking to gain specialized clinical training in women’s health, maternal care, and gynecological disorders.
The program combines structured academic learning with intensive hands-on clinical rotations at recognized teaching hospitals. Trainees are exposed to high-risk obstetric cases, surgical procedures, outpatient care, and emergency management under expert supervision. The curriculum also emphasizes ethical practice, research integration, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Graduates of this program are equipped to serve as mid-level consultants at primary and secondary healthcare facilities, contributing to improved maternal and reproductive health outcomes across the region.
This program will be conducted at the Islamic International Medical College (IIMC) Teaching Hospital, Pakistan Railway Hospital

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the application deadline:
1. Academic Qualification:
MBBS or equivalent degree recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
2. PMDC Registration:
Must hold valid PMDC registration at the time of application.
3. Clinical Experience:
Candidates must fulfill one of the following:
- Completed one-year house job, including at least 3 months in Obstetrics & Gynecology from a recognized institution.
- OR completed one year of clinical experience in any medical specialty after MBBS.
4. Selection Process:
Must successfully pass the interview conducted by the academic committee.

Merit / Selection Criteria
Admission to the DGO program is based on a combination of academic performance and interview assessment. Applicants must hold an MBBS degree recognized by PMDC and meet the clinical experience requirements.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, and final selection is made on merit, considering:
- MBBS academic record
- Relevant clinical experience
- Interview performance

Certificate / Diploma Awarding Criteria
The Diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGO) is awarded upon successful completion of the following:
- Two years of structured clinical training at approved teaching hospitals
- Minimum attendance and satisfactory conduct as per university regulations
- Completion and approval of the e-logbook documenting clinical activities and procedures
- Attendance in all mandatory workshops (e.g., Research, Communication, ALSO, Surgical Skills)
- Passing all required assessments, including:
- Low-stake formative assessments
- Mid-stake assessments (written + OSCE)
- High-stake summative exams (theory, OSCE, and long cases)
