Program Description
The Diploma in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (DHQPS) is a one-year postgraduate program offered by the Islamic International Medical College in collaboration with the Directorate of Healthcare Quality, Riphah International University. This diploma aims to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement quality improvement initiatives and patient safety measures across healthcare systems.
The program is structured over two semesters, totaling 16 credit hours, with a mix of contact sessions, assignments, and practical quality improvement projects. It integrates modern concepts like systems thinking, leadership in healthcare, and evidence-based practices while emphasizing patient-centered care, teamwork, and effective communication. For Pakistani Nationals
To be eligible for admission into the Diploma in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (DHQPS) program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Educational Qualification:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree (14 years of education) or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university or degree-awarding institute (DAI).
2. Admission Process:
- Submit an application in response to an official advertisement by the university/department.
- Provide the required documents specified in the application form.
- Admission will be based on cumulative merit, which considers previous academic records and performance in an interview.
3. Exclusions:
- Candidates who have been rusticated or expelled from any university/college for misconduct, use of unfair means, or offenses involving moral turpitude are not eligible for admission.
- The final selection will be made by an admission committee, approved by the Vice Chancellor, on the recommendation of the Dean.
For International Students
International students seeking admission to the Diploma in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety (DHQPS) program must meet the following criteria:
1. Educational Qualification:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (14 years of education) or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution or degree-awarding body equivalent to standards accepted in Pakistan.
2. Admission Process:
- Submit an application along with required documents as per the prescribed form advertised by the university/department.
- Admission will be granted based on cumulative merit, which includes academic performance and an interview.
3. Visa and Equivalency Requirements:
- Ensure a valid visa for study in Pakistan.
- Provide equivalence certificates from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, if applicable, for foreign qualifications.
4. Exclusions:

- Formative exams (40%) are taken after each module.
- Final exam (40%) is held at the end of the course.
- Assignments (10%) are completed during online sessions.
- Case study (10%) is done at the end of the course.
Academic Performance
- A minimum of 80% attendance in all coursework, seminars, and workshops is mandatory.
- Students must successfully complete all required coursework with a minimum Cumulative Grade.
- Professional Behavior and Conduct
- Students must demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and adherence to the institution’s code of conduct throughout the program.
- Participation in mandatory seminars, workshops, or conferences organized by the institution is required.
Clearance and Approvals
