IIMC Celebrates International Recognition of Pioneer MBBS Graduate Dr. Muhammad Irfan Malik

The Islamic International Medical College (IIMC), a constituent college of Riphah International University, is proud to celebrate the international recognition of Dr. Muhammad Irfan Malik, an alumnus of the pioneer MBBS Class of 1998–2003. Dr. Malik has been appointed as an International Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (UK)—a prestigious honor that highlights the global impact and professional excellence of IIMC’s graduates.
Dr. Malik is a highly accomplished pulmonologist, intensivist, and sleep medicine specialist with widespread national and international acclaim. He currently serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at the University College of Medicine & Dentistry. His academic and clinical credentials include FCPS (Pakistan), FRCP (Glasgow), FCCP (USA), CMT (UHS), and the European Diploma in Respiratory Medicine (Adult), reflecting his longstanding dedication to advancing medical expertise.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Malik has demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and service. He established state-of-the-art Level-1 Sleep Labs at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore General Hospital, and Niazi Hospital, all certified by Philips Respironics. He also founded the Central Research Lab Project at Lahore General Hospital, contributing significantly to the hospital’s research infrastructure. As the Focal Person for COVID-19 management, he played a critical role in formulating treatment strategies for moderate-to-critically ill patients during the pandemic.
Dr. Malik has further served as the Focal Person for the Prime Minister’s Portal Health Complaint Cell and as a member of the Infection Control Committee at Lahore General Hospital. Under his guidance, the hospital successfully implemented MSDS standards and achieved certification from the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC), demonstrating his commitment to healthcare quality and patient safety.
