Tuesday, 27th October 2026
The Riphah School of Leadership (RSL), Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) organized an environmental awareness initiative titled "Community Work, Environment and Sustainability Cleaning Drive" at the Daman-e-Koh viewpoint in Islamabad.
The activity was led by Dr. Kokab Manzoor, Assistant Professor & In-charge of Community Work, alongside Senior Lecturer Mr. Nabeel Abid. The purpose of the activity was to blend academic learning with practical civic duty and to drive engaged students directly in environmental stewardship and community service. During the event, student and faculty members actively cleaned the public park, paved viewpoints, and surrounding green trails. Working collaboratively in teams, participants collected scattered plastic bottles, food packaging, and general litter using dedicated waste collection bags and boxes. Beyond the physical restoration of the picnic spot, the drive served as an interactive awareness campaign to educate tourists and local visitors on proper waste management, pollution reduction, and individual civic responsibility.
This field initiative directly reinforced key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), by addressing plastic pollution and local eco-system conservation. The activity successfully demonstrated RSL's commitment to developing socially responsible future business leaders. The drive concluded with the successful restoration of the targeted site and positive reception from the public, highlighting the impactful role of academic institutions in driving community-level sustainability.
