IIDC Hosts Masterclass on Cleft Lip and Palate Management

The Department of Orthodontics at the Islamic International Dental College (IIDC), Riphah International University, successfully hosted a Masterclass on Cleft Lip and Palate on 12 August 2026, bringing together residents from Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Paediatric Dentistry from various institutions across the twin cities.
The engaging masterclass provided participants with an opportunity to explore contemporary approaches to the management of cleft lip and palate, with particular emphasis on the use of newer appliances and emerging technologies in patient care.
The workshop was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ulfat Bashir, Workshop Director, with faculty members from the Department of Orthodontics serving as moderators and workshop coordinators. Their efforts contributed to creating an interactive academic environment that encouraged professional exchange and multidisciplinary learning.
The masterclass was further enriched by the expertise and insights of distinguished guest speakers, Dr. Noeen Arshad and Dr. Alizeh Rizwan, with the session facilitated by Prof. Dr. Kanwal Zulfiqar. The speakers shared valuable perspectives on evidence-based approaches, prevention, and community engagement, highlighting their importance in the comprehensive management of cleft lip and palate.
By bringing together dental specialists and residents from multiple disciplines and institutions, the masterclass provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and discussion of evolving approaches to cleft care.
