Monday, 3rd August 2026
The Tarbiyah Resource Center has successfully concluded its 1st Professional Skills and Community Development Certificate Course for Imams, marking an important milestone in its efforts to strengthen community and religious leadership. The intensive three-month program brought together 18 selected Ulama-e-Karam for specialized training led by industry professionals and subject-matter experts.
The program was designed to equip Imams with professional, interpersonal, and contemporary skills that extend beyond their traditional responsibilities. A key objective was to empower Imams to serve as effective societal leaders and contribute to transforming Masajid into vibrant community centers that reflect the true spirit of Islam.
Throughout the three-month course, participants received training across a diverse range of areas. The Personal and Professional Development module covered topics including time management, social and emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, leadership, and social engagement.
The Modern Skills and Media component focused on modern presentation skills, applied basics of social media, and Islamic oratory, enabling participants to communicate more effectively and engage with contemporary audiences.
Participants also received practical training in Community Service and Practical Application, including first aid and emergency response, family counseling, and the concept of the Masjid as a community center in both local and international contexts. The program further incorporated a Clean & Green Drive and a field visit to Jamia Masjid Rehmat Lil Aalameen, providing participants with opportunities to connect their learning with practical community initiatives.
The course also addressed important areas of Contemporary Islamic Studies, including halal food industry standards and Shariah challenges in modern institutions. These sessions provided participants with greater awareness of contemporary issues relevant to their religious and community leadership responsibilities.
A distinctive feature of the program was its emphasis on practical implementation. Participants were required to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training within their own communities. During the final month, the participating Ulama successfully implemented 40% of the training sessions directly within their respective Masajid, taking practical steps toward strengthening their role as impactful community leaders.
The program concluded with a final assessment, project presentations, and a graduation ceremony, marking the successful completion of the first cohort.
The successful conclusion of the certificate course represents a significant step toward developing well-rounded religious and community leaders equipped with the professional skills, contemporary knowledge, and practical competencies needed to serve their communities effectively.
