Thursday, 6th August 2026
Riphah International University, in collaboration with Collab P, CoreNet Systems, and eCav Technologies Inc., has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the UFPCP 2026 Final Year Product Commercialization Program. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Riphah International University I-14 Campus as part of a strategic initiative focused on transforming student innovation into commercially viable products.
The ceremony was graced by Brig. (R) Syed Nadir Hussain Shah, PD IT & Telecom, Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), whose presence reaffirmed SIFC's commitment to strengthening Pakistan's innovation, commercialization, and export-led technology ecosystem.
The MoU was formally signed by Farhan E Shah, CEO, Collab P; Dr. Naveed Ikram, Director, Riphah Institute of Systems Engineering (RISE), Riphah International University; Dr. Amir Qayyum, CEO, CoreNet Systems; and Syed Asim Gilani, eCav Technologies Inc.
Under this strategic collaboration, selected final year student projects will be developed and transformed into commercially viable, export-ready products, creating a pathway from academic innovation to international markets. The program aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by enabling Pakistani students, researchers, and innovators to develop solutions with commercial potential and access to international opportunities.
A key focus of the initiative is to facilitate the introduction of these products into the United States State, Local, and Education (SLED) market, described in the initiative as having an annual value of approximately USD 1.85 trillion. This approach will provide a pathway for locally developed innovations to reach one of the world's major public procurement markets.
The partnership represents an important step toward strengthening connections between Pakistani universities and international commercialization opportunities. By supporting product development, commercialization, intellectual property creation, and market access, the initiative seeks to accelerate innovation and contribute to Pakistan's emerging knowledge-based economy.
The collaboration also highlights the growing importance of university-industry partnerships in creating practical opportunities for students. Through the commercialization program, final year projects can move beyond academic assessment toward product development, market readiness, and potential international deployment.
Special appreciation was extended to Mr. Inam Khosa of SmartFusion for his role in organizing the collaboration with Riphah International University.
The initiative reflects a shared vision of transforming Pakistani innovation into globally marketable products while creating new opportunities for students, researchers, industry, and the broader national economy. Riphah International University remains committed to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, industry collaboration, and pathways that enable its students and researchers to create meaningful impact at both national and international levels.
