The Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) at Riphah International University proudly celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals Week 2026 under the global theme, "Lab Story: To Infinity and Beyond For Our Patients," recognizing the invaluable contributions of medical laboratory professionals in advancing diagnostic services and improving patient care.

The celebration brought together faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals to acknowledge the critical role of laboratory science in modern healthcare while promoting academic excellence and professional development among future medical laboratory technologists.

A key highlight of the event was an inspiring guest lecture by Ms. Zainab Hameed, Central Lab Coordinator at Chughtai Lab Lahore, who shared valuable insights into contemporary laboratory practices, quality standards, and the evolving role of medical laboratory professionals in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic services. Her session provided students with practical industry perspectives and encouraged them to pursue excellence in their professional careers.

The event also featured a commemorative cake-cutting ceremony to mark Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, celebrating the dedication and commitment of laboratory professionals who work behind the scenes to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

To encourage academic engagement and healthy competition, the department organized a series of educational contests that highlighted students' knowledge, presentation skills, and professional competence.

In the Quiz Competition, Sana Nadeem (MLT 7th Semester) secured first position through an outstanding demonstration of subject knowledge and analytical skills.

The Presentation Competition, themed "Behind Every Diagnosis: The Hidden Heroes," showcased students' understanding of the indispensable role of medical laboratory professionals in healthcare. Sidra Shehzad (MLT 8th Semester) won first place, while Arsalan Jamil (MLT 5th Semester) earned the runner-up position for his impressive presentation.
