ISD Hosts Two-Day Training Workshop on Strengthening Libraries’ Role in Education and Research

The Information Services Department (ISD) of Riphah International University, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, successfully organized a two-day training workshop titled “Libraries as Partners in Education: Strengthening Community Engagement and Research Support” on April 23–24, 2026.
The workshop brought together librarians, researchers, and information professionals from diverse academic backgrounds to exchange knowledge, explore innovative practices, and reinforce the evolving role of libraries in advancing academic excellence and research support.
The event featured a series of insightful sessions delivered by distinguished experts.
Day 1 Highlights:
The workshop commenced with a Quran learning session conducted by Dr. Main Muhammad Ramzan. This was followed by a comprehensive session on effective service delivery, innovation, professional standards, and research support in academic libraries, presented by the Director ISD.
- Dr. Asad Khan delivered an engaging talk on enhancing academic research and learning through modern library service models.
- In connection with World Book and Copyright Day, Mr. Khurram Shahzad led a thought-provoking discussion celebrating knowledge and intellectual property.
- The day concluded with a session by Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, who highlighted the importance of library subject guides in strengthening university research outcomes.
Day 2 Highlights:
The second day began with a Quran learning session led by the Director ISD.
- Dr. Mian Muhammad Ramzan explored the transition from information literacy to research impact, focusing on understanding research metrics in the digital age.
- Prof. Dr. Salman Bin Naeem discussed strategies for strengthening community engagement and enhancing research support through libraries.
- Dr. H. M. Intizar Javed delivered an insightful session on the role of artificial intelligence in academic research, addressing its opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations.
- The final technical session was conducted by Malik Ghulam Hussain, who presented the fundamentals of RLMS records validation in Riphah Libraries.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks and a certificate distribution ceremony led by Director ISD, Muhammad Farooq.
