A delegation comprising 41 participants was warmly received by officials of the Senate Secretariat upon arrival at Parliament House. The visit aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of Pakistan’s parliamentary system, legislative procedures, and national information resources.
Insightful Engagement at Parliament House
During the parliamentary tour, the delegation visited key sites including the Senate Museum, Senate Hall, and Gali Dastur. A comprehensive briefing was delivered by Mr. Jamil Ahmed Khoso, Joint Secretary Senate Secretariat, who elaborated on parliamentary working procedures, the legislative process, constitutional responsibilities of the Senate, and the role of standing committees.
The Senate Museum offered participants valuable insights into Pakistan’s parliamentary history, the evolution of the Constitution, and significant legislative milestones. Observing the Senate Hall provided a first-hand understanding of the environment where national policies are debated and formulated. Gali Dastur further enriched the experience by showcasing historical photographs and artifacts that reflect the institutional development of the Senate over the years.
Educational Visit to the National Library
In the second half of the day, the delegation proceeded to the National Library of Pakistan, where they were cordially welcomed by the library staff. Participants received a detailed orientation on the library’s various sections, services, and operational framework.
Special visits were arranged to the Children’s Corner and Countries’ Corner, both of which house diverse international collections and promote cultural exchange. The session significantly enhanced participants’ awareness of national-level library resources, research facilities, and information services available to scholars and professionals.
Strengthening Institutional Awareness and Civic Understanding
Members of the Riphah Women Club expressed strong interest in Pakistan’s parliamentary system, democratic traditions, and the constitutional role of the Upper House. The visit was described as highly informative and intellectually enriching, contributing meaningfully to their understanding of key national institutions.
The RWC extended sincere appreciation to the Senate Secretariat officials and the National Library staff for their cooperation, guidance, and hospitality throughout the visit.
