Dr Syeda Momna Ishtiaq focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of diseases of public health concerns and developing animal models to investigate potential therapeutic strategies. During her scientific arena, she has experience to study one of prevalent diseases, the liver disease. Dr Ishtiaq's research career is based on conducting pre-clinical studies to inquire cellular/molecular programming of disease pathogenesis for identification of potential checkpoints for targeted therapy and to investigate effects of relative natural/synthetic ligands, particularly, in hepatitis, obesity-related hepatic complications and chemical-induced liver injuries through different animal models. Dr Ishtiaq's future goals will be to study molecular mechanisms of emerging diseases and to develop preventive strategies against prevalent Public Health/One Health diseases.
