The Department of Digital Learning (DDL) offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to support every stage of the digital learning lifecycle - from course ideation and design to delivery, monitoring, and improvement.
Trainings & Capacity Building
We deliver structured training programs to help faculty and staff build competencies in instructional design, digital pedagogy, digital course authoring, and content development. The department also supports the effective use of learning technologies and assists academic units in transitioning courses to blended and online formats. In addition, DDL offers on-demand and customized training sessions, including department-specific workshops, support for particular courses or programs, targeted training on digital tools or methodologies, and orientation sessions for new faculty and staff.
Digital Course Authoring
We facilitate two course authoring pathways:
-
Digital Course Authoring With Original Content
Enables Riphah faculty and staff to design and develop original digital courses using their subject-matter expertise. This approach is ideal for courses that require institution-specific content, original instructional design, or alignment with accredited academic or professional frameworks. The Department of Digital Learning provides guidance/support on instructional design, digital pedagogy, content structuring, content development (including audio/video recording/editing), and LMS implementation. -
Digital Course Authoring With Curated Content
Allows faculty and staff to design high-value digital courses by curating, organizing, and contextualizing credible publicly available third-party learning content from reputable sources, reducing duplication of effort while maintaining academic rigor and instructional coherence. The Department of Digital Learning supports authors in content evaluation, copyright and licensing considerations, instructional alignment, and LMS implementation.
Digital Content Integration
Digital Content Integration in Classroom Courses at Riphah International University refers to the intentional and structured use of digital learning resources to enrich traditional, face-to-face teaching. Through our Digital Learning Site, we enable faculty and students to access high-quality digital content for self-learning, blended learning, and flipped classroom experiences.
Platform Access & Administration
DDL is responsible for managing access to Riphah's multi-site Open edX learning platform and provides technical support to faculty, students, and staff. Our platform support services includes learner enrollment and account management, course configuration and setup, assessment and certification setup, data and analytics reporting, and technical troubleshooting.
Monitoring & Reporting
Monitoring and reporting are a core part of our operations. The department tracks digital learning activities across faculties to support informed planning, evaluation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
