Riphah International University is sponsored by Islamic International Medical College Trust (IIMCT), which is a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian welfare organization registered with the Government of Pakistan.

Islamic International Medical College Trust was established in 1995 by Late Maj. Gen (R) Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali Khan. IIMCT intends to help Muslim Ummah in solving the pressing problem of deteriorating academic standards, by establishing State of Art Institutions in Pakistan, engaging eminent scholars and scientists.
