Eligibility Criteria
Educational criteria is prioritized as under:

Priority 1:
The candidate should have passed the Intermediate Science (F. Sc) Examination (Medical Group) securing at least 60% marks in aggregate, unadjusted, from a Pakistani university or an equivalent examination of a Board of Secondary Education in Pakistan. |

Any other examination of a foreign university or examining body which in scope and standard is found equivalent to the Intermediate Science (F. Sc) Examination (Medical Group) of a Pakistani university or Board of Secondary Education. An equivalence certificate from the Inter-Board Chairmen Committee (IBCC) will be required along with the admission form. However, equivalence certificates of such applicants will not be accepted who have not studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in 11th and 12th Grade. |

Priority 2:
The candidate should have passed a higher examination of a Pakistani University with Biological Sciences provided he/she has passed the Intermediate Science (F. Sc Examination, Medical Group) securing at least 60% marks in aggregate, unadjusted, from a Pakistani University or an equivalent examination of a Board of Secondary Education in Pakistan. |

Entry test:
If no centralized entry test for admission to medical and dental colleges is arranged by Federal Government or any agency nominated by the Federal Government, then the College will arrange its own entry test.
Pakistani nationals living abroad who have passed F. Sc or equivalent examination from a University or examining body are also eligible to sit in the entry test. Alternatively they must take SAT II and must have a minimum score of 550. If the medium of instruction in that country is other than English in addition to SAT II they should have TOEFL score of 500 or IELT score of 5.5. Those who take the entry test will also be eligible for admission on ordinary seats. Others will only be eligible for admission on foreign sponsored seats.
Foreign nationals are also eligible for admission, subject to merit determined by the college based on F. Sc or equivalent examination, SAT score, TOEFL or IELT score, on foreign sponsored seats. |

The candidate should possess adequate mental and physical health to continue his/her course of studies. |

Age of the candidate, at the time of admission, must be between 17 and 35 years. |
 |
The candidate must not have been expelled/rusticated from any instution. |
 |
The Admission Committee may cancel/refuse admission of/ to any student without assigning any reason. |
Selection Criteria
The merit list will be prepared by the Admission Committee after the Entry Test in accordance with the following formula:

Additional weightage will be given for Hafiz-e-Quraan and NCC Training certificate as for government policy in vogue.
Final selection will be made on Interview.
Admission Procedure
Applications for admission/entry test be invited through IIMC and Riphah International University web sites and advertisement in local and foreign print and electronic media. |
The admission package will be available from advertised sites. This will includes admission application form, affidavit specimen, hostel admission form and Prospectus. |
Applications shall be submitted to the Principal, Islamic International Medical College, Al-Mizan Building, 274-Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Any application received after due date and time will not be entertained. |
Applications should be sent by Registered post/ Recorded delivery. Application by hand can also be accepted for which receipt should be obtained. |
Foreign nationals shall forward the original application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad, requesting them for grant of clearance to the candidate and subsequently forwarding their application to Ministry of Education who after completing the formalities shall forward the case to Islamic International Medical College. It would be advisable if foreign applicants send their applications through their own Government Embassy/ High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan. |
They shall also submit a photocopy of the application along with complete educational certificates, photocopies of passport to Principal Islamic International Medical College directly. They will need a student visa to enter Pakistan for studies, once their admission is confirmed. An overseas applicant cannot seek admission in any educational institution in Pakistan with a Tourist or Visit Visa and is liable to be deported by the Government of Pakistan as per regulations, for which College will not bear any responsibility. |
The entry test/ interview will be held according to the date, time and place intimated by mail to the applicants after receiving their applications for admission. Merit list, once compiled, will be posted on the IIMC and Riphah International University web sites as well as on college notice board. Interview call letters will be sent by post/e.mail to candidates according to the merit. |
Result/final selection intimation will be dispatched to the successful candidates only. |
The College shall not issue any admission letter to foreign applicant unless clearance from the Government agencies is received. |

Any student who fails to clear the first professional MBBS Part II examination in four chances availed or un-availed, after becoming eligible for each examination, shall cease to become eligible for further medical education in Pakistan (PM & DC Ruling). |

The candidate must submit six copies of the thesis alongwith an application form for the evaluation of his thesis, duly approved by his supervisor and Head of the Department concerned. |
 |
The Board of Studies will suggest to the Advanced Studies and Research Board two separate panels of external examiners - one for the evaluation of thesis and the other for the viva-voce examination. |
 |
The Advanced Studies and Research Board will consider and approve the panels of examiners. |
 |
The Vice-Chancellor shall appoint a panel of 4 examiners (3 external and I internal) approved by Dean. |

The degree shall be awarded on the result of an examination consisting of: |

One written paper.
A Viva-Voce covering the entire field of the examination including the thesis.
A clinical and/or practical examination in concerned speciality.
A high degree of performance will be expected from the candidate in the whole examination in order to get through. The whole examination has to be taken together and cannot be taken in parts.
The viva voce, clinical and/or practical examination shall be conducted by the four examiners (3 external and I internal) appointed by the Vice-Chancellor from the panel approved by Dean. |

| The degree of MSc under the seal of the International University shall be awarded to the successful candidate after the reports of the examiners for the thesis, result of the theory & clinical and/or practical examinations and viva-voce examination by the Syndicate on the recommendations of the Advanced Studies and Research Board. |

| Courses and Examination Plan |

 |
The whole course will comprise of two parts viz. Part I and Part II. |
 |
The Part I will consist of basic sciences viz. anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physics, clinical measurements, statistics, resuscitation and equipment. |
 |
The Part II will consist of clinical anaesthesiology, intensive care, pain management and related aspects of internal medicine and general surgery. |
 |
During the entire period of training, in addition to receiving instructions in theory and practical from the relevant faculties of the RIU, the postgraduate student will be required to work, full time, in the department of anaesthesiology& intensive care at the Railway General & Teaching Hospital Rawalpindi to get the practical training in anaesthesia and will have to follow the schedule of teaching and training given by the department from time to time. |

The postgraduate students will be required to attend a minimum of 75% of all the lectures, tutorials and practicals individually. |
 |
The syllabus and the curriculum will be determined by the board of studies and approved by the Board of Studies & Academic Council of the university. |
Examination
The examinations of Part I and Part II will be held once a year in the month of January.
Department Of Anaesthesiology & Pain Management
Training Program For DA
The two-year teaching and training program for the Diploma in Anaesthesiology (DA) of the International University will be carried out in four six - monthly semesters. At the end of each semester (six month period), the trainees will be expected to possess theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the subject as outlined below.
At the en/d of each semester, an evaluation will be carried out to assess the theoretical soundness and practical ability of the trainees and to identify areas of deficiencies if any.

- A candidate will be allowed to appear in Part I Examination at the end of a satisfactory training for a period of one year having been certified to have attended not less than 75% all the lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and practicals individually.
- The examination will consist of two papers. The Paper I (MCQ type) and Paper” (Short essay type) each covering the entire course content prescribed for Part I as mentioned in above.
- The weightage of each component will be mentioned in the table of specification determined by the board of studies.
- The pass percentage will be 60 percent in each paper individually.
- A candidate will be allowed a maximum of 3 (three) attempts, availed or unavailed, to pass the examination, failing which he or she will not be allowed to pursue the course further.
- University is authorize to cancel the registration due to poor performance of the candidate at any time of the course
- A candidate will be allowed to appear in the part II examination if he or she fulfils following requirements:
- Has passed D.A. Part-I examination.
- Has completed two years full time residential training in anaesthesiology.
- Has obtained satisfactory reports for the three-monthly periodical tests.
- Has administered anaesthesia to at least 250 patients, as per the prescribed Log Book, during the period of training, to the entire satisfaction of and certified by the chairman, department of anaesthesiology & intensive care, RIU.
- Completion of two workshops (workshop on computer training, workshop on BCLS & ACLS).
- The examination will comprise of:
- Theory: Two papers; Paper I (MCQ) and Paper II (Short essay), each covering the entire course content as prescribed for the Part “ and mentioned above.
- Clinical, TOACS Examination comprising the entire course content as prescribed for Part I and Part II examinations.
- The weightage of each component will be mentioned in the table of specification determined by the board of studies.
- The pass percentage in each paper and viva will be 60 percent in each paper individually.
- A candidate who fails in the viva examination will be exempted from appearing in the theory for two attempts, availed or unavailed.
- All other matters relevant to the examinations will be determined by the university from time to time as proposed by the board of studies.
- English shall be the medium of the examination for the Theory/Clinical/Practical and TOACS examination.
